Frieren Season 2 aired 10 episodes from January 16 to March 27, 2026, on Nippon TV's Friday Anime Night block, and Crunchyroll streamed every episode worldwide with an English dub that started on February 6. Ten episodes. After a 28-episode first season, that number landed like a cold front, and "only 10 episodes" became one of the most-searched phrases around the show. Madhouse spent that short run on the snowy Northern Plateau and on a demon swordsman named Revolte, and it ended by setting up the arc fans have been waiting years to see animated.

Frieren Season 2 Release Date and Global Streaming Schedule

Frieren Season 2 premiered on Friday, January 16, 2026, and ended on March 27, 2026, as episodes 29 to 38 of the series. The schedule was short, the gaps were real, and the dub ran on its own clock, which is why so many viewers ended up confused about what was out and when.

Crunchyroll vs. Netflix: Where to Watch

Crunchyroll is the main home of Frieren Season 2 outside Japan. It simulcast the season across North America, Latin America, Europe, Africa, Oceania, the Middle East, CIS, India and Southeast Asia, and it carries the English dub. Netflix is the trap. Netflix streamed Season 2 only in select regions of Asia, so in the US, the UK and most of Europe the answer to "is Frieren Season 2 on Netflix" is no. In Japan, the season aired on Nippon TV and its network stations, and the official anime site lists the local broadcast details.

Broadcast Time & Episode Rollout

New episodes aired on Fridays at 11:00 p.m. JST and reached Crunchyroll the same day. The season took a one-week break on February 20 for the Winter Olympics, which is why Episode 33 aired on February 13 and Episode 34 did not arrive until February 27. The English dub started late. Winter storms delayed recording, so the first dubbed episode arrived on February 6, Episodes 2 and 3 dropped together on February 13 to catch up, and the dub finale landed on April 3.

That explains the "Episode 11 release date" searches. Episode 10 was the finale, and the next new episode is Season 3. The harder question is what those ten episodes spent their time on.

Northern Plateau and Divine Revolte Arc Plot: A Demon Who Fights Like a Hero

Season 2 follows Frieren, Fern and Stark as they push north across the Northern Plateau toward Aureole, the place where souls rest and where Frieren hopes to speak with Himmel again. The first half keeps the show's signature rhythm: quiet villages, small favors, a hometown that belongs to someone else, and flashbacks that turn a passing remark from Himmel into a gut punch decades later.

Then the tone hardens. The back half adapts the Divine Revolte arc, and a new key visual billed it with a single line: "To protect my homeland, I strike." The Revolte episodes started on February 27, and they are the closest Frieren has come to a straight action set piece since the First-Class Mage Exam.

The Subjugation Request: Frieren, Genau and Methode

The arc opens with a request to subjugate a demon in the north, and Frieren is not sent alone. She works alongside two First-Class Mages, Genau and Methode, which changes the party dynamic in a way fans of the exam arc will enjoy. Genau is blunt and battle-hardened. Methode is versatile and calm. Neither of them treats Frieren as a legend, and that friction gives the arc its edge. Their opponent is Revolte, a demon who fights with swords rather than relying on magic alone, and that is exactly why he is dangerous to a party built around mages.

Who exactly is Revolte, and why does he matter more than the demons before him?

Revolte, Genau and Methode: The New Faces of Season 2

Revolte is a four-armed demon swordsman voiced by Shinichiro Miki, and he is the season's main antagonist. Earlier demons like Aura and Qual were dangerous because of one overwhelming spell. Revolte is dangerous because he out-fights people, and the arc keeps asking whether magic alone can beat raw technique. Tarusuke Shingaki voices Genau and Reina Ueda voices Methode, while the core cast returns: Atsumi Tanezaki as Frieren, Kana Ichinose as Fern and Chiaki Kobayashi as Stark. Here is who matters this season, with their Japanese voice actors (CV).

Frieren (CV: Atsumi Tanezaki)

Frieren, the elf mage, in the Frieren Season 2 anime

An elf mage who has lived for over a thousand years. She helped Himmel's party defeat the Demon King and is now traveling north to Aureole to understand the people she once took for granted.

Fern (CV: Kana Ichinose)

Fern, Frieren's apprentice mage, in Frieren Season 2

Frieren's apprentice, raised by the priest Heiter. A precise, fast-casting mage who keeps the party fed, on time and in line.

Stark (CV: Chiaki Kobayashi)

Stark, the warrior trained by Eisen, in Frieren Season 2

A warrior trained by Eisen. Nervous before every fight and reliable in every one of them.

Revolte (CV: Shinichiro Miki)

Revolte, the four-armed demon swordsman and main antagonist of Frieren Season 2

A four-armed demon who fights with swords. The main antagonist of the Divine Revolte arc and a different kind of threat for a party of mages.

Genau (CV: Tarusuke Shingaki)

Genau, the First-Class Mage, in Frieren Season 2

A battle-hardened First-Class Mage who joins the subjugation request against Revolte.

Methode (CV: Reina Ueda)

Methode, the First-Class Mage, in Frieren Season 2

A calm First-Class Mage with an unusually wide range of spells, working alongside Frieren and Genau.

Himmel (CV: Nobuhiko Okamoto)

Himmel the Hero in the Frieren anime

The hero who defeated the Demon King. He died decades ago, but his memory drives almost every choice Frieren makes.

Heiter (CV: Hiroki Touchi)

Heiter the priest in the Frieren anime

The party's priest, who raised Fern before passing away.

Eisen (CV: Yoji Ueda)

Eisen the dwarf warrior in the Frieren anime

The dwarf warrior of Himmel's party and Stark's former teacher.

The English dub brings back Mallorie Rodak as Frieren, Jill Harris as Fern and Jordan Dash Cruz as Stark, with Clifford Chapin, Jason Douglas and Christopher Guerrero returning as Himmel, Heiter and Eisen. The voices are settled. The story is not, because the anime has now run almost to the edge of what the manga has published.

Manga Guide: Where the Anime Picks Up

Frieren Season 2 ends at Chapter 80 of Kanehito Yamada and Tsukasa Abe's manga, so the next chapter to read is Chapter 81, which opens Volume 9 of VIZ Media's English edition. The season adapted the continued northern journey and the Divine Revolte arc, which runs from Chapter 71 ("Subjugation Request") to Chapter 76, and then used its final chapters to point straight at what comes next.

Chapter 81 starts the Golden Land arc, which many manga readers consider the series at its peak. It centers on Macht, the demon who turned an entire city to gold, and on the question the whole series keeps circling: can demons and humans ever truly understand each other? The manga reached 15 volumes as of March 2026, and it has been on hiatus in Weekly Shonen Sunday since October 2025.

That hiatus is the quiet reason the anime stopped at 10 episodes and announced Season 3 so far ahead: there is enough story for one more strong season, and not much beyond it yet.
