She chooses Xylo as her knight, and her one demand is simple: "When we annihilate the enemy, praise me, and pat my head." Xylo agrees, because he needs her power to survive, and because he has a list of people who framed him.

Xylo's unit is a collection of the most morally bankrupt convicts in the kingdom: a thief with more than a thousand charges, a con man convicted of inciting a civil war, a would-be usurper who still acts like royalty, an assassin, and a dragon knight with a blue dragon. They argue, scheme and occasionally betray each other, and that chaos is the show's sense of humor. The season's final arc, a three-episode harbor evacuation and rescue mission, puts every one of them under pressure at once.

A manga adaptation by Natsumi Inoue began in March 2022, and Yen Press started its English print release in June 2026.
The anime adapts the opening volumes, ending with the harbor evacuation arc.
