The Fate/strange Fake anime aired its 13-episode TV run from January 3 to March 28, 2026, and Crunchyroll streams it with an English dub across most of the world outside Asia. It is the first Holy Grail War set in the United States, in a Nevada desert city called Snowfield, and it starts with a lie: the war everyone signs up for is a fake. The real one is hiding underneath it. The finale ended on "to be continued," and in August Aniplex made it official with Season 2.

Fate/strange Fake Release Date and Global Streaming Schedule

Fate/strange Fake took an unusual road to TV. A one-hour special, Whispers of Dawn, aired on July 2, 2023. Episode 1 of the series debuted early, on December 31, 2024. The regular weekly broadcast then began on January 3, 2026, on Tokyo MX and other channels, and new episodes continued every Saturday until the finale on March 28, 2026.

Crunchyroll vs. Japanese TV: Where to Watch

Crunchyroll streams Fate/strange Fake in North America, Central and South America, Europe, Africa, Oceania, the Middle East and CIS, with both Japanese and English audio. In Japan, the series aired on Tokyo MX and its partner stations, and the official anime site lists the broadcast details.

Broadcast Time & Episode Rollout

Episodes aired weekly on Saturdays in Japan and reached Crunchyroll with an English dub, so English-speaking fans did not have to wait months for this one. The staff from Whispers of Dawn stayed on: A-1 Pictures animated it, Shun Enokido and Takahito Sakazume directed, and Hiroyuki Sawano wrote the music.

The watch order is simple: Whispers of Dawn first, then the TV series from Episode 1. The special introduces most of the Masters and summons, so skipping it makes the opening episodes much harder to follow. And you will want to follow them, because nothing in Snowfield is what it claims to be.

False Holy Grail War Plot: A Fake War Built to Summon a Real One

Someone announces a Holy Grail War in Snowfield, Nevada, and mages from around the world rush in. The catch is in the name. It is a "False" Holy Grail War, a copy of the ritual from Fuyuki, and it only summons six Servants instead of the usual seven. Those six False Servants are not the point. They are the catalyst for a True Holy Grail War, which summons seven more Servants to fight in the same city.

That is the hook. Every Master thinks they understand the rules, and every episode reveals another layer of people who wrote the rules for their own benefit: American mage organizations, the city's police, the Clock Tower, and the Church.

False Servants vs. True Servants

The False side includes some of the biggest names in Fate. Gilgamesh, the King of Heroes, is Archer. His oldest friend Enkidu is Lancer, and their reunion is the emotional anchor of the whole series. Alexandre Dumas is a Caster who writes rather than fights, and Berserker is Jack the Ripper, a Servant with no fixed form. Saber is Richard the Lionheart, summoned by a girl who did not even want to be a Master. Then the True Servants start arriving, and the balance of power the first episodes built falls apart.

So who is actually in control of this war?

Light Novel Guide: Where the Anime Picks Up

Fate/strange Fake is a light novel series by Ryohgo Narita, the author of Baccano! and Durarara!!, with original character designs by Shizuki Morii, published by Dengeki Bunko since 2015. The ninth volume came out in March 2024, and Narita decided to write the ninth and final volumes together. The tenth and final volume was scheduled for summer 2026, so the story finally has an ending. Morii also drew a manga adaptation for Type-Moon Books.

Is Fate/strange Fake available in English? As of October 2026, we could not find an official English release of either the light novels or the manga, which is why "Fate/strange Fake manga English" became a record search this year. The anime is the only official way to follow the story in English for now.

That makes Season 2 important. Aniplex announced it on August 21, 2026, at its Anime NYC panel with a new trailer and a teaser visual that reads "Rise Against the Rules." A-1 Pictures is expected to return, but no release window has been announced.
