Chained Soldier Season 2 Plot: The Eight Thunder Gods and the Commanders' Meeting
Yuuki Wakura wandered into Mato in his last year of high school, nearly died to the Shuuki, and was saved by Kyouka Uzen, commander of the 7th Unit. Her ability, Eternal Chains: Slave, turns him into her "slave," a transformed fighting partner who earns a reward after every battle. In Season 1, Kyouka used that power to kill the One-Horn and avenge her destroyed hometown.
Season 2 opens with a new threat. The Eight Thunder Gods, a group of humanoid Shuuki who call themselves gods, begin to move, and the Demon Defense Force answers by summoning every unit commander to a meeting. Joint training follows, and so do rivalries, especially with the Azuma family, whose members fill multiple units and argue about family pride as much as strategy.
Yuuki Between the Commanders
Yuuki is the only man in an organization built around women who gained powers from Mato's Peaches. Season 2 tests how far his slave ability can go with partners other than Kyouka, and every new pairing comes with new powers and new complications. Commanders like Tenka Izumo take an interest in him, while Himari Azuma still cannot stand him. The real question is whether the Demon Defense Force is ready for an enemy that thinks.
The Eight Thunder Gods and the Unit Commanders: Who Matters in Season 2
The Eight Thunder Gods are the main antagonists of Chained Soldier: humanoid Shuuki with their own agenda, led in strategy by the bewitching Shikoku. Season 2 introduces several of them, including Rairen, who wields fire and lightning. On the human side, Chief Commander Ren Yamashiro leads the entire Demon Defense Force with an ability called All-Encompassing Lord of the Cosmos. Chained Soldier is written by Takahiro and drawn by Yohei Takemura. It has run on Shueisha's Shonen Jump+ since January 2019 and is still ongoing, and English volumes are available.
