Here are my impressions of the first three episodes of Season 4. So far, it's good, and it's making me anxious in the best way.

Episode 1 Impressions

This episode was good. It's starting to click for me that the real problem here is Mikey is traumatised but mad, he's basically Kazutora but he's had people to keep him sane (Draken, the remaining Toman members, and especially Takemitchy). Based on the trailer he's going to lose it and create a new gang after disbanding Toman, and I feel like he's going to be manipulated somehow by someone to the point that he breaks down. Takemitchy talking about Kisaki showed that he wasn't really the true villain, there was so much more we could have learned about him but he died without us knowing more about him.

Plus, it's S4 and we still don't know how the time travel works? Does it only work when Takemitchy wants to save someone? What is the logic behind it? There's been little clues on the mechanics of it.

Episode 2 Impressions

Shit making me so anxious I just kept waiting for the other shoe to drop.

I wonder if Automichi ever gonna be relevant? Cuz I low-key feel bad for him when Hina is basically just using him as placeholder Hanagaki Daniel while waiting for his other better self lol

When it focused on Hina's earring I thought it was gonna reveal now Hina was the opps imagine that twist

I feel like the only way for Takemichi to have peace is to never jump into the future and just have his time in the past advance normally.

Episode 3 Impressions

Mikey hasn't been seen in a decade. Not since Takemichi literally JUST left him, in fact. And no one has any idea where he is...even as they're leaving the happy, fulfilling, lives he left them.

Count on Naoto's connections to get some clues though! Even if they're not happy news. Bonten is the biggest criminal gang in Japan, bigger than Toman or all the evil gangs, and at the head of it is none other than...Mikey. And we can see just how much Mikey has changed when he coldly has traitors to Bonten executed on HIS order. An organization that has Sanzu, Kakucho, Koko, Mochizuki, the Haitani Brothers, and all manner of baddies.

I'm not surprised Takemichi thinks the quickest solution is to just go back in time...but is that really the best option? When everything is going so well in the present time and Hina is alive? Why risk that? Even if Naoto was willing to help him, he's satisfied enough with this timeline that he can't send Takemichi back. So all that's left is hunting down Mikey in the present.

Maybe it is for the best they leave the Mikey thing alone and just live the happy lives Mikey would have wanted for them...but Takemichi (and Kazutora) owe Mikey too much to let this go without at least talking to him. Also Yamagishi, but when has he ever said no to looking into something gang related?

On a more wholesome note, finally getting the gang back together to unearth the time capsule! To see what they dreamed about as kids, what they expected to happen to them in the future, and for Draken, to process the loss of Toman and to always carry that, and Emma's memory, with him.

Though there's not a dry eye in the house when they read Mikey's letter where he basically had it pegged what everyone would be doing with their lives after Toman. He really knew them all so well, and just wanted them to be happy. Even when he's now in a place where he can never face them again.

Takemichi wishes for everyones' happiness...and he finally finds a plot relevant video tape. What will it show him?

Inupi and Koko can't get away from Taiju even in a fantasy gag setting.
