Tamon's B-Side aired 13 episodes from January 3 to March 28, 2026, and it streams on Crunchyroll with subtitles and an English dub. Utage Kinoshita lives for one idol: Tamon Fukuhara, the sexy, wild-image star of the group F/ACE. Then her part-time housekeeping job sends her to his apartment, and the man on the couch is anxious, gloomy and ready to quit. Most fans would be crushed. Utage decides her job is now to save him.
Tamon's B-Side Release Date and Global Streaming Schedule
Tamon's B-Side premiered on Saturday, January 3, 2026, on TOKYO MX and BS11, and its final episode aired on March 28. Because the slot ran late at night, some listings show January 4 to March 29 instead. J.C.Staff animated it, and the director is Chika Nagaoka, best known for directing Detective Conan films. Studio Sanzigen helped with the 3D concert scenes, so F/ACE's stage performances actually look like a real live show.
Crunchyroll vs. Ani-One Asia: Where to Watch
Crunchyroll streams Tamon's B-Side worldwide, and Ani-One Asia carries it in South and Southeast Asia and Oceania. The English dub arrived on Crunchyroll in early May 2026, after the Japanese broadcast had finished, so if you searched "tamon's b-side english dub where to watch," the answer is Crunchyroll, and the full season is dubbed now.
Broadcast Time & Episode Rollout
The show aired weekly on Saturday nights in Japan for one full cour. Thirteen episodes is the right size for this story: long enough to move Utage and Tamon from fan and idol to something more complicated, short enough that the joke of Tamon's two faces never gets old.
| Detail | Tamon's B-Side | Why It Matters |
|---|---|---|
| Run | January 3 – March 28, 2026 | A complete Winter 2026 season. |
| Episodes | 13 | One cour, no split. |
| Streaming | Crunchyroll, Ani-One Asia | English dub on Crunchyroll since May 2026. |
| Studio | J.C.Staff | 3D concert scenes with Sanzigen. |
| Opening | "Sweet Magic" by F/ACE | Sung by the in-show idol group. |
| Ending | "Hana to Yume" by F/ACE | Named after the manga's magazine. |
Both theme songs are performed by F/ACE, the fictional idol group, so the songs you hear in the credits are the same ones Utage screams along to in the show. That trick is the whole premise in miniature: what is on stage, and what is real.
Tamon's B-Side Plot: When Your Idol Is Nothing Like the Stage
Utage is a high school student who works part-time for a housekeeping service to fund her idol habit. On one job, the client turns out to be Tamon. On stage he is confident, flirty and untouchable. At home he is the opposite: low self-esteem, terrible at taking care of himself and convinced he should quit the group.
The twist is how Utage reacts. She does not feel betrayed. She gets angry on his behalf. Her catchphrase is basically "Don't underestimate a fan's love," and she decides that if Tamon cannot believe in himself, she will believe in him loudly enough for both of them. The comedy comes from the whiplash. Tamon switches between "on" and "off" mid-conversation, and Utage has to keep up while also hiding the fact that she is his biggest fan.
Under the jokes, the show asks a real question about fandom: is it fair to love someone for an image they are exhausted from performing?
F/ACE: The Idol Group Behind the Rom-Com
F/ACE is not just set dressing. Tamon's bandmates and the people around him notice that something has changed, and they start to wonder who Utage really is. Every new person who gets close to the truth puts Tamon's career, and Utage's job, at risk, and the show uses that pressure well.
That brings us to the two leads, and the voices behind them in both languages.
Utage and Tamon: Characters and English Dub Cast
Tamon Fukuhara is the reason the show trended. He is two characters in one body, and the Japanese and English voice actors both have to play the confident idol and the anxious wreck, sometimes in the same line. Here is the main cast in Japanese and English:
- Utage Kinoshita (Japanese: Saori Hayami; English: Abigail Blythe): a devoted fan who refuses to let her idol give up on himself.
- Tamon Fukuhara (English: Conner Allison): F/ACE's "sexy and wild" member, and a nervous mess at home.
- Ouri Sakaguchi (Japanese: Shoya Chiba; English: Brandon Acosta): one of the people in Tamon's orbit who notices he is changing.
- Keito Tachibana (Japanese: Yu Hatanaka; English: Cody Savoie): part of the idol world Tamon is trying to survive.
- Natsuki Ishibashi (Japanese: Kohei Amasaki; English: Kevin D. Thelwell): another familiar face around F/ACE.
- Rintaro Kai (English: Alex Hom): rounds out the cast around the group.
Helena Walstrom directed the English dub. Saori Hayami, who also voices Kunon in Kunon the Sorcerer Can See this same season, gives Utage a fast, fierce energy that makes her obsession funny instead of creepy.
Is Tamon's B-Side Worth Watching?
Yes, especially if you liked Takane & Hana or any idol story that peeks behind the curtain. The show is a comedy first: Tamon's switches between "on" and "off" are timed like sketches, and Utage's inner monologue is a constant stream of fan panic. But it is also kinder than it needs to be. Tamon's low self-esteem is never a punchline for long, and Utage's support never turns into her fixing him by force. The show trusts that being seen, really seen, by one person can be enough to keep someone going.
It is not a slow burn, though, and that is worth knowing going in. The romance moves in small steps, and 13 episodes end with plenty unresolved. If you need a full love story, the manga is where you will find it.
So the anime ends, but Utage and Tamon's story does not.
Manga Guide: Where the Anime Picks Up
Tamon's B-Side is based on Yuki Shiwasu's manga Tamon-kun Ima Docchi!?, serialized in Hakusensha's Hana to Yume since October 20, 2021. Shiwasu is also the creator of Takane & Hana, so the sharp banter is no accident. The manga has passed 1.6 million copies in print.
- Is the Tamon's B-Side manga finished? No. It is still running, with 16 volumes in Japan as of June 2026.
- English release: VIZ Media publishes it in English, starting in October 2023.
- Where to read after the anime: the 13 episodes adapt the early volumes, so English readers have plenty of story left in VIZ's releases.
With 16 volumes and counting, there is easily enough material for another season. The only thing missing is the announcement.
