Reincarnated as a Dragon Hatchling Anime: Where to Watch, English Dub, Episodes & Season 2

The Reincarnated as a Dragon Hatchling anime premiered on January 10, 2026, and streams on HIDIVE in North America, with an English dub that began on March 18. It is not on Crunchyroll, which surprises a lot of people searching for it there. The premise starts smaller than any isekai you have seen: a person from Earth wakes up as an egg in a forest full of monsters. No legs, no magic and no way to run. The only way out of the shell is to level up, and the only guide is a mysterious voice that refuses to explain almost anything.

Reincarnated as a Dragon Hatchling Release Date and Global Streaming Schedule

The anime aired from January 10 to March 28, 2026, on AT-X and TOKYO MX, with SUN, BS11 and regional stations following. It ran 12 episodes. Felix Film and GA-CREW animated it, Yuta Takamura directed, Tatsuhiko Urahata wrote the series composition, and Hiroyasu Oda handled monster designs, which matters a lot in a show whose hero is a monster.

HIDIVE vs. Crunchyroll: Where to Watch

HIDIVE licensed the series for North America and simulcast it through the winter. "Reincarnated as a dragon hatchling crunchyroll" became a breakout search during the season, but the show was never part of Crunchyroll's lineup. Muse Communication handles South and Southeast Asia. If you already subscribe to HIDIVE for Hell Mode, you have both of the season's game-logic isekai in one place.

Broadcast Time & English Dub Rollout

Is there a Reincarnated as a Dragon Hatchling dub? Yes. HIDIVE announced the cast on March 13 and premiered the dub on March 18, 2026, with Adam Gibbs as Illusia. John Swasey directed it.

A dub that arrives late in the season is a sign of how the show performed, not a footnote. Searches for "watch reincarnated as a dragon hatchling" jumped by 500 percent over the year, and HIDIVE moved to give that audience an English version. The bigger question is why so many people kept watching a baby dragon grind levels.

Reincarnated as a Dragon Hatchling Plot: Evolve or Get Eaten

The hero starts as an egg, hatches into a tiny dragon and, much later, gets a name: Illusia. From there the show runs on one rule: every fight earns experience, every level brings new skills, and evolution can change his body entirely. That is the hook that pulls fans of That Time I Got Reincarnated as a Slime, which shows up right next to this show in search trends.

The difference is how fragile Illusia starts. He is not a slime that can absorb anything. He is a hatchling at the bottom of the food chain, and almost every creature in the forest can kill him. The early episodes play like a survival game, where the right move is often to hide.

The Divine Voice: A Guide That Will Not Help

Illusia's only companion at first is the Divine Voice, voiced by Ami Koshimizu. It speaks only to him, announces his level-ups and skills and can read out details about his enemies. But ask it a question and you usually get the same line: "I cannot provide that explanation." It is the show's best running joke, and also its sharpest tension. Somebody built the system Illusia is trapped in, and the voice clearly knows more than it says.

The people he meets are harder to read than the monsters.

Illusia, Myria and the Characters

Illusia is a hero who looks like a monster, so his biggest problem is that humans see a dragon and reach for a weapon. Here are the main characters with their Japanese voice actors (CV):

Shunichi Toki carries most of the show alone in the early episodes, mostly in internal monologue, and his comic timing against Koshimizu's flat Divine Voice is the reason the slow start works. All of it comes from a story that is already finished.

Light Novel and Manga Guide: Where the Anime Picks Up

Reincarnated as a Dragon Hatchling began as a web novel by Necoco on Shosetsuka ni Naro in August 2015. The light novel, illustrated by Naji Yanagida, ran for 12 volumes at Earth Star Entertainment, moved to Square Enix's SQEX Novel label for Volumes 13 to 17, and ended with Volume 17 in January 2026, the same month the anime premiered.

• Light novel in English: Seven Seas Entertainment.
• Manga: drawn by RIO in Comic Earth Star since September 2017. Seven Seas publishes it in English, with 8 volumes out as of December 2025.
• Where the anime sits: Myria names Illusia, after her favorite flower, in Episode 8, a moment from the second light novel volume, so the anime reaches at least Volume 2. We could not confirm the exact chapter the finale reaches, so Volume 1 is the safest place to start.

A completed 17-volume story is the best argument for more anime. The ending exists, which makes adapting it much easier.

Reincarnated as a Dragon Hatchling Season 2: Is It Confirmed?

No Reincarnated as a Dragon Hatchling Season 2 has been announced as of October 2026. "Season 2" and "season 2 release date" are among the show's fastest-rising searches, but the official site has not confirmed a sequel since the March 28 finale. The case for one is strong: the light novel is finished, the dub is out, and interest kept rising after the season ended. Until a studio announcement arrives, the light novel is the only way to see Illusia's next evolution.
