Part 2 turns the camera on Nube himself. The cour introduces Shunichi Toki as the young Nube and Yu Shimamura as Minako, the teacher who shaped him as a boy. The reboot keeps the horror sharp, too. Nube does not fight alone. Kyosuke Tamamo, a 400-year-old fox spirit who first arrives disguised as a handsome teacher, began as a rival with his own reasons for being in Domori, and his uneasy alliance with Nube is one of the reboot's best dynamics. Yukime, the snow woman who has her own complicated feelings about Nube, brings warmth and danger in equal measure. The kids notice all of it, and that is part of the fun.
