Broadcast Time & Episode Rollout

How many episodes does Tune In to the Midnight Heart have? Twelve in Season 1. Here is the full picture:

Getting Hoshimachi Suisei, one of the best-known VTubers in the world, for the opening was a smart move for a show about voices. The music in this series is not decoration. Several episodes feature full insert songs, and they are a big reason the show stood out in a crowded season.

Tune In to the Midnight Heart Plot: Looking for the Last 1 Percent

What is Tune In to the Midnight Heart about? Arisu Yamabuki is the heir to a powerful conglomerate and wants to be perfect at everything. He believes he is 99 percent there. The missing 1 percent is Apollo, the host of an online radio show called "Midnight Heart Tune," whose voice was the only thing that comforted him late at night as a boy. At the end of his first year of middle school, she stopped streaming without a word.

In the spring of his second year of high school, Arisu maneuvers his way into Fuurin High, a former girls' school that has just gone co-ed. His only clue to Apollo is her voice. When he follows a familiar one into the broadcasting club, he finds four girls, and each of them has something of Apollo in her. So he makes a promise: he will make all four of their voice dreams come true.

The Broadcasting Club and Its Four Dreams

The clever part is that the harem setup doubles as a career story. Each girl wants a different job built on her voice: a singer, a voice actress, a VTuber and an announcer. Arisu throws his money, planning and stubbornness at helping them, and each episode of help is also an episode of detective work. Is this the girl he remembers, or just someone who sounds like her?

That question has become the show's biggest search.

Who Is Apollo in Tune In to the Midnight Heart?

"Who is Apollo" is a breakout search for the show, rising alongside "who is apollo in tune in to the midnight heart." We are not going to spoil it. The mystery is the engine of the whole series, and the anime and manga both treat it as something to earn. What we can tell you is who the candidates are, with their Japanese voice actors (CV):

• Rikka Inohana (CV: Momoko Seto): wants to become a singer. Her insert songs are some of the season's highlights, and "rikka tune in to the midnight heart" is a rising search.
• Nene Himekawa (CV: Rumi Okubo): wants to become a voice actress.
• Iko Kirino (CV: Sayumi Suzushiro): already active as a VTuber.
• Shinobu Uzuki (CV: Miku Ito): wants to become an announcer.

And the young man looking for them:

• Arisu Yamabuki (CV: Rikuya Yasuda): the perfectionist conglomerate heir chasing the voice that saved him.
• Also starring: Kana Hanazawa, Yuki Wakai, Nao Toyama and Wakana Kuramochi.

Casting four voice actresses to play girls who might share the same voice is a real technical challenge, and the show uses it well. You will catch yourself listening for Apollo in every line. The manga is further along in that hunt.

Manga Guide: Where the Anime Picks Up

Tune In to the Midnight Heart is a manga by Masakuni Igarashi, the creator of Senryu Girl and Detectives These Days Are Crazy!, both of which also became anime. He knows how to write comedy built around how characters communicate, and this series takes that to its logical end. It started in Kodansha's Weekly Shonen Magazine on September 20, 2023, and has 14 volumes as of August 2026. Kodansha USA publishes it in English.

• Is Tune In to the Midnight Heart complete? No. The manga is still running.
• Where the anime sits: Season 1 covers the opening arc of Arisu helping each girl toward her dream.
• Where to read: Volume 1 is the best start, because the anime trims some of the early character moments.

Tune In to the Midnight Heart Season 2: 2027 and Two New Sisters

Will there be a Season 2 of Tune In to the Midnight Heart? Yes. Season 2 was announced right after the March 24 finale, and in July 2026 NBCUniversal confirmed it will premiere in 2027. The core staff returns, including director Masayuki Takahashi at Gekko. Two new cast members join as Arisu's family: Ami Koshimizu as his older sister, Riina Yamabuki, and Kaede Hondo as his younger sister, Mito Yamabuki.

Adding Arisu's sisters is a strong hint about where the next arc goes. A perfectionist heir has a family behind him, and they may not approve of how he is spending his time.
